Reasons to Fall in Love with South Korea

Before getting into why you should consider going to South Korea, I wanted to give you all a huge virtual hug. Since sharing about my miscarriage, I have been receiving so much positivity and love. It’s been wonderful and oh so helpful. I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for everyone. When I first got pregnant, I was nervous being in a foreign country, especially at a location where the majority of its population doesn’t speak English. How will I ever get by? I have to say, I’ve never been so impressed with the service and care I…

Settling into a Duty Station

It’s been five months, y’all! We’ve been here for that long and I’m finally feeling like I’m settling into a routine. For me, the biggest struggle is the huge change from Virginia to South Korea. By all means, it’s not a bad change. Daegu is great! The people are wonderful. Daegu has lots of stuff nearby to see and do – and eat. For example, when we found an adorable Italian restaurant around the corner, I asked my spouse if he was able to enjoy different cuisine last time he was at a Korean station, the answer was no. So, I’m…

PCS Vacation: Universal Studios and Disney World

My spouse and I have PCSed together three times – and every time we’ve been able to loop in a vacation. It’s the perfect opportunity for a trip because my spouse gets time off and I can schedule my time off with him. First, it was our two-week cross-country road trip from New York to Arizona. Second, we cruised the southern Caribbean and visited Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Antigua, St. Maarten, Barbados, and St. Lucia. Before arriving in Korea, we visited Orlando. I thought it would be a good idea to enjoy Disney and Universal as a couple. I’ve had the pleasure…

Achievement Unlocked: Grad School Capstone Complete

My thoughts as I wait for my final grade. A couple years ago I shared that I’ll be starting grad school at American University – and I haven’t said much else! With work, school, and volunteering at my local installation, I was left with very little time, which I spent mostly with my spouse. In the last six months of our time in Virginia, things started picking up all around. That was also around the same time that we were looking to PCS (surprise!). I was really hoping I would finish the program stateside and have the opportunity to walk…

About That One Time in Seoul

I’m a little behind on things in South Korea. Getting adjusted to a new work schedule and life in Daegu has been a wild and crazy ride! As I mentioned in my last post, we are also trying to make the most of being stationed here, so Busan was our last trip. However, I forgot to share that we spent a wonderful weekend in Seoul last month. The Army celebrated its 242nd birthday on June 14 – and we traveled to Seoul to attend the Birthday Ball. Y’all, it was my FIRST birthday ball experience and I had a blast!…
