Another Type of Anniversary

How many people use Timehop? I’ve seen a lot of my friends throughout social media share some great flashbacks because of Timehop, so I had to get in on it. A couple weeks ago, a photo from my farewell lunch at my old job came up. When I saw the picture, it made me feel very nostalgic. It’s incredibly to think that at that moment the picture was taken, I had no idea where I would end up a year later. Everything was so up in the air…I haven’t had my reunion with my husband…I still had the move to…

My 2014 Review

As I welcomed 2015, I couldn’t believe that a whole year as passed since moving here. It’s been a crazy, amazing and beautiful year of exploring all aspects of life as a military spouse newlywed. I’ve learned so much about myself and still feel like there are a million more things to learn. I’ve never been happier and look forward to everyday! Last month, I mentioned that I been out of touch on some things (i.e. blogging). Among the million more things to learn, I’m continuously learning how to balance everything in my life. In 2014, I’ve been living by the moment…

Being Thankful for What I’ve Got

I can’t begin to express how happy I’ve been this past year. Honestly, I don’t think I would have guessed a year ago. Last year, my husband was still away and I was getting ready to leave NYC. My future was unsure and I was scared. Blogging really helped me cope with my separation and I can say it was one of the best things that happened . Now, I’ve been trying find a balance with my extra time. I’ve been so selfish that I practically spend all my free moments with my husband. Also, I’m working from home for the first…

The USO is Awesome

I’m slightly delayed with this post, but it’s still relevant nonetheless! 🙂 – – – – – If you’re involved with the military, then you most likely have heard of the USO. It’s a great organization that helps support military members and their families. In the past, I’ve used a great FREE photo album program to put together something for my husband when he was stationed overseas. (I talk about it here.) Fort Belvoir has an amazing USO facility that I feel so lucky to utilize. When my parents came to visit, we took a tour of the building. They…

What happens when allergies attack?

For me, I become miserable. I didn’t think it would be as bad as when I lived in Texas, but Virginia is kicking my butt! Now that Fall is in full swing, Ragweed is plentiful and my sinuses have been going crazy. I started feeling yucky when the season started, but have been doing my Saline solution and Vitamin C regimen. I thought I was in the clear…till this past weekend. It hit me like a pile of bricks on Saturday. Sadly, it got my husband first and it moved onto me. We were both a couple of miserable people…

When do you realize you’re an adult?

I have to admit, I spent a lot of my pre-teen and teenage years trying to pry myself away from my parents. I’m an only child, so I got a lot of attention. Not to mention, I received a lot of pressure. Well, now approaching 30, I realized that I was being way too dramatic and that they weren’t smothering me. They were just being normal parents. Is that when you realize that you’re an adult? I like to think that is when I did. Here I am, 28 years old, married to an amazing man, living the dream in…

My Military Wedding: Pinterest vs. Reality, Pt. 1

Good news! My wedding album arrived and I couldn’t be happier. My husband and I procrastinated for months because we were busy, you know…being married…to sit down and go through everything from our wedding day. We’ve just been enjoying what married life has brought us. After six months of wedded bliss, our album came to me and very timely, I might add. My husband has been away for a month now with less than a month till I see him for his graduation. Seeing all the pictures displayed in a different way, brought some much needed smiles to me. When…

5 Awesome Items You Should Own to Represent Your Home State

It’s no surprise to everyone that I’m from Texas. I probably mention it way too much, but I can’t help it! Texas is just so special to me and my parents are still there. I’m always eager to visit when I get the chance — and my husband and I already talk about retiring there. I recently purchased an awesome shirt from ModCloth that had Texas on it. I was so excited when I received it and it made me think how many Texas items I actually own. Although the ModCloth item is only for Texas, some of my other…

Kitty Crisis — Xena’s Emergency Vet Visit

Of course, Xena had to have an eye issue when my husband is gone! When I was finishing up my day in the office on Friday, I noticed that Xena was swaying back and forth and one eye was completely shut. She kept pawing at that eye and just looked extremely uncomfortable. I started to freak a little. I looked closer and tried to gently open her closed eye, but she started tearing up and wanted to keep it closed. My hearts starts to race because I know something is wrong. What makes matters worse, I’m all by myself and…

Some Changes ‘Round Here

So, in an effort to really fill-up any free time I have, I decided to make the big change from Blogger to WordPress! I’ve already been using WordPress in my last job and I also designed my professional website with it (in addition to using the platform for practically all my writing assignments). I just thought it would just streamline everything to have both my blog and professional portfolio website on WordPress and match too! Well, the digital journey began when I had to point my name servers, which I had through Enom on Google. It messed up my email…
