As I welcome August, it also means that my husband will be leaving for a two month TDY soon. For the past month or so, we’ve been making the most of our time together before the summer ends. That means, all the free time I have is spent with him (I know, I know, when will I get tired of him?!).
Another new development, I’ve been very involved with the local spouses’ club, so that has been utilizing my spare time. As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun! I’m still working on juggling it all.
My adventures with my husband have been so fun lately. I totally bypassed sharing our cruise vacation in Alaska. We flew to Seattle and bounced up to Alaska and white water rafted down the current of a melting glacier, dog sledded with Iditarod worthy Alaskan Huskies, hiked up chilly mountains, drank local craft beer, and ziplined in the Canadian wilderness. I’m not including all the sights seen at Seattle. We stayed there for two days to soak up the surroundings like traveling to the top of the Space Needle and exploring the Aquarium and Pikes Place Market.
ALASKA IS AMAZING. Truly, add a trip there in your bucket list. It will not disappoint.
After our Alaska trip, it’s been busy, busy, busy! My parents came to visit for their annual pilgrimage to where ever I currently live. Their visit coincided with the Fourth of July. We went to Mount Vernon during the day and traveled to Arlington to watch the DC fireworks over the Potomac.
My husband and I camped last weekend and we have plans to make the most of this coming weekend before he runs out of time. Our camping trip was at Shenandoah River State Park. They recently (within the last two or three years) opened up ziplining. I found the deal on Groupon and we had to partake. We had a blast!
It’s hard to believe that the dog days of summer are coming to an end! I hardly got the chance to put on a bathing suit and we haven’t made it to the beach. There is still some time though!
How has YOUR summer been? I’ve missed you all!!
